Russell Grant

Background:

I was born and raised in Tulsa OK and graduated from Union High School in 1981. I am an Alumni of both the University of Tulsa and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, earning music scholarships at both schools by playing in the wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz big bands as well as other smaller ensembles. After college I played regionally with a rock and roll band from Tulsa named Testing One Two and then a friend asked if I could sub for him on a gig playing with a small orchestra called The Sinfonia. This led me into becoming a first call player with this orchestra which has grown into what is now became the Tulsa Signature Symphony, and for the last 5 years with them I have been the Principal Percussionist. We now play a full season of five Classics concerts as well as five Pops concerts a year.  During the summer months you can hear me playing with the Starlight Concert Band and the StarLight Big Band. I also play Wednesday nights for Odyssey Christian Church. I am a freelance musician in the region playing for local shows and musicals and play at some of Tulsa’s finest retirement communities with a small group called Retrospect.
