George Toumayan

George Toumayan, a native of Tulsa, nurtured his passion for percussion during his school years, actively participating in marching, concert, and jazz ensembles. He received a music scholarship to the University of Tulsa, where he aimed his skills in these ensembles and the symphony orchestra. Upon graduation, George pursued a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he had the opportunity to perform with UCO’s Jazz Lab I band, a renowned jazz big band recognized by Downbeat magazine. During the summer of 2010, UCO embarked on a European tour, performing at two prestigious festivals with the jazz ensemble.

Currently in his ninth year as the band director at Metro Christian Academy, George continues to be an active performer, collaborating with musical artists such as Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra Jr., The Texas Tenors, The Irish Tenors, Sandi Patty, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Natalie Merchant, and many others.
